CDMX (RRC): La Secretaría de Seguridad Ciudadana (SSC) detuvieron este viernes 26 de septiembre de 2025 a Oscar Giovanni Mata, alias «El Topo» o «El Renato», un hombre de 31 años presuntamente ligado al grupo criminal La Unión Tepito.
La captura ocurrió en la colonia Constitución de la República, en la alcaldía Gustavo A. Madero, cuando elementos policiales lo interceptaron a bordo de una motocicleta manipulando dosis de aparente marihuana, cocaína y cristal.
Mata fue puesto a disposición del Ministerio Público, donde enfrenta investigaciones por delitos contra la salud en la modalidad de narcomenudeo, posesión de estupefacientes y posible vinculación con delincuencia organizada, extorsión y distribución de drogas en el Centro Histórico.
Mata es un «amigo cercano» de Sandra Cuevas, exalcaldesa de Cuauhtémoc y actual aspirante a un escaño en el Senado por Movimiento Ciudadano. Fotografías difundidas por el periodista Carlos Jiménez (@c4jimenez) muestran a Mata posando junto a Cuevas y Alejandro Gilmare Mendoza, alias «El Choko», líder de La Chokiza (otro grupo delictivo enfocado en extorsiones y despojos en el Estado de México), detenido el 10 de septiembre de 2025 en Ecatepec.
En una conferencia de prensa el 18 de septiembre de 2025, Cuevas abordó imágenes similares con «El Choko», aclarando que era su pareja en ese momento y que, tras su divorcio, no ha tenido relaciones serias: «Está el que en ese momento era mi, pues no sé, pues estaba conmigo».
Sobre Mata, en un video reciente que circula en redes, Cuevas lo describe como un ex empleado al que «le cambió la vida»: «Yo le puse Gio, Giovanni Mata, fue mi empleado (Director de Territorio en la Cuauhtémoc) y le cambié la vida, lo enseñé a trabajar, le enseñé a ser líder, le di una posición, lo transformé, lo pulí». Hasta el momento, Cuevas no ha emitido un pronunciamiento oficial sobre la detención de Mata.
Esta detención forma parte de una serie de operativos contra grupos criminales en la zona metropolitana, incluyendo la captura reciente de «El Choko». Las autoridades continúan investigando posibles ramificaciones políticas.
