RRC/Michoacán: La Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) de Michoacán informó que el 7 de agosto de 2025 fue detenido Magdiel Urbina Chimal, alias Magdiel “N”, presunto autor material del homicidio del periodista Armando Linares López, director del medio digital Monitor Michoacán. El crimen ocurrió el 15 de marzo de 2022 en Zitácuaro, Michoacán, donde Linares fue asesinado a balazos en su domicilio en la colonia Carabanchel. La detención se llevó a cabo mediante una acción operativa en Zitácuaro, y el implicado fue puesto a disposición de un juez para resolver su situación jurídica.
Previamente, otro sospechoso, Carlos Gerardo Sánchez Mendoza, alias “El 02”, fue detenido en agosto de 2023, pero liberado en marzo de 2025 por falta de pruebas contundentes. Linares había denunciado amenazas previas debido a sus investigaciones sobre corrupción en la región, y su asesinato ocurrió seis semanas después del homicidio de su colega Roberto Toledo, también de Monitor Michoacán.
