Hernán es acusado por las autoridades mexicanas de ser el presunto líder de la organización criminal «La Barredora», una célula vinculada al Cártel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG), dedicada a actividades como el narcotráfico, extorsión y otros delitos relacionados con el crimen organizado. Bermúdez Requena contaba con una orden de aprehensión activa en México por estos nexos.
El traslado se realizó gracias a una coordinación internacional entre el Gobierno de México y Paraguay. Un equipo de autoridades mexicanas, incluyendo representantes de la Secretaría de Seguridad y Protección Ciudadana (SSPC), la Fiscalía General de la República (FGR), el Centro Nacional de Inteligencia (CNI), la Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores (SRE) y el Instituto Nacional de Migración (INAMI), viajó a Paraguay para ejecutar la orden de aprehensión.
Una vez en territorio mexicano, Bermúdez Requena será ingresado inmediatamente al Centro Federal de Readaptación Social (CEFERESO) Número 1 «Altiplano», ubicado en Almoloya de Juárez, Estado de México. Este penal de máxima seguridad es conocido por albergar a líderes de alto perfil del crimen organizado, como Joaquín «El Chapo» Guzmán en su momento. Allí continuará su proceso jurídico, donde enfrentará los cargos por su presunta vinculación con el crimen organizado.
